CBSE SYLLABUS FOR PRIMARY CLASSES
CBSE Syllabus for Class 3, Class 4 and Class 5 is based on the guidelines issued by NCERT. The NCERT syllabus for primary classes for all subjects English, Maths, EVS, Hindi and Punjabi is framed keeping in view certain objectives.
The primary school children are very interested in visual images, local music & songs, rhythm and body movements. The syllabus is planned accordingly.
The children are highly creative. So, they should be provided opportunities to enhance their creativity.
MAIN OBJECTIVES OF NCERT SYLLABUS FOR CLASS 3, CLASS 4 AND CLASS-5 ARE AS :
- To make the children conscious about good and beautiful environment.
- To encourage them to express their ideas freely.
- To develop all senses of children through observation, expression and exploration.
As per NCERT, total 5 subjects that are prescribed i.e. English, Maths, EVS, Hindi and Punjabi. You can go through the syllabus to make the process of learning more effective.

NCERT books are prescribed in all CBSE affiliated schools. Although NCERT books are not mandatory for CBSE affiliated schools.

As per Section 2.4.7 of CBSE Affiliation Bye Laws:
“the school may prescribe NCERT textbooks in the classes and subjects in which these have been published by the NCERT. Extra care should be taken in the selection of books of private publishers so that there is no objectionable content that hurts the feeling of any class, community, gender or any religious group in the society.”
